The Mastermind

Synopsis

In 1970, failed architect James Blaine Mooney and cohorts wander into a museum in broad daylight and steal four paintings. When holding onto the art proves more difficult than stealing them, Mooney is relegated to a life on the run.

Critics Views

“Like so much of Reichardt’s output, The Mastermind feels modest when you’re watching it and downright brilliant once it’s had some time to settle in your mind.”  New York Magazine

“The steal is managed with fine-tuned suspense: coolly, precisely edited by Reichardt herself and set to Rob Mazurek’s taut, urbane jazz score.”
The Financial Times

“This is magnetic, compulsively watchable work from O’Connor, who is shaping up to be one of the finest actors of his generation.”
The Observer
